New Publication – “Integrative structure and functional anatomy of a nuclear pore complex”
Illuminating the Gateway to the Nucleus
Read our latest publication in Nature titled: Integrative structure and functional anatomy of a nuclear pore complex.
A tremendous feat of structural, molecular, chemical and cellular biology, our NCDIR researchers and collaborators encompassing 10 different institutions across the USA have illuminated the engineering feat of the cell when creating the largest protein complex in the cell, the Nuclear Pore Complex.
This biological blueprint describes the positioning of the 552 proteins that form the complex, relating the structural formation to that of a suspension bridge, made up of both structured and flexible components that enables the complex to withstand mammoth amounts of stress.
NCDIR clone database
